Improve Interpersonal Relationships
Individual counseling can help you improve the quality of your relationships with their loved ones, friends and the community. Your therapist can help you develop skills to be more “present” with those around you, to learn to listen to hear rather than listening to respond.
There is almost no limit to the types of relationship therapy can assist with! Romantic relationships, parent/child, parent/teacher, business partners, coworkers, neighbors, friends - the list goes on. These relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and effective communication. Going to therapy can help you gain better insight about yourself and how you present yourself to the world. This in turn, will help you to see how you interact with others and help address behaviors that may be problematic.
Therapy is not meant to change the other person, but to help you know and understand yourself better. To paraphrase from Dr. Maya Angelou, “when you know better, you do better”.
