Maintaining your physical health is just as important as maintaining your mental health. During the holidays, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with heavy foods and to limit physical activity, but we need to ensure we are staying active to benefit our mental and physical health. There is plenty of research that supports how maintaining physical activity and exercise can benefit your overall mental health.
Before you start any exercise program, speak with your doctor. Then start taking small steps (no pun intended) to your health. I’m not saying you have to now commit to waking up at 4:30am each morning to hit the gym, but be intentional about adding a little extra movement to your day
This can look like doing 10 mins of stretching right before you take a shower, or standing up while taking a phone call instead of sitting down, or even using gallon jugs of water as arm weights and doing a few reps while cooking.
Every minute and every movement counts! What are some other ways you can easily incorporate a little extra movement in your day?
